Military spouses often put their careers on hold while their partners dedicate their lives to serving the country. Frequent moves and changing schedules make it difficult to embrace an entrepreneur mindset and focus on building a business.
A recent workshop organized by MiraCosta College and the Veterans Business Outreach Center introduced military spouses to eCommerce as a way to launch, expand, or reimagine a business in a way that works for their schedules and lifestyles.
The two-day “Launch It: eCommerce for Military Spouses” workshop, held March 24 and 31, led attendees through each step of the eCommerce process, from idea generation through launching a website, by using live, interactive exercises and reflections.
The workshop was funded by MiraCosta College CTE with assistance from Jennifer Patel, Business and Entrepreneurship Regional Director in the San Diego/Imperial Region.
The Veterans Business Outreach Center, located at MiraCosta College, is part of the Defense Department’s Transition Assistance Program. The center opened in 2016 and is one of 22 locations across the country.
It provides training, one-on-one counseling, and other resources for veterans and their families who are looking to start their own businesses in Southern California and beyond. For more information, visit: https://socalvboc.org.
